If you’ve ever felt like your bank account is having an identity crisis, you’re not alone.

But… it’s not your income that’s the problem.

It’s the complete lack of a system! That’s what makes everything feel like you’re trying to navigate the outer suburbs with a 1985 Melways.

I PROMISE you – this can be fixed.

No complex financial analysis and belt tightening that make your soul die a little every time.

No secret finance language. Just a little bit of structure with a large side of “Oh thank goodness, I can breathe now.”

Here’s the number one mega-common mistake that almost every entrepreneur I work with has made:

Mixing their personal and business money into one giant financial smoothie (and forgetting to throw in the chia seeds)

A good income month feels like payday at the casino… until a few weeks later when the panic sets in and you’re wondering if you can pawn that ugly old vase your mum gave you (Spoiler: it’s Kmart circa 1994, but she’ll still notice if it’s missing.)

Cue the guilt, the 3am mental math and the cycle of “I’ll definitely get on top of this NEXT month – right after I binge this Netflix series”

What if you could feel as calm about your money as you do after a yoga class—even when your income is hopping around all over the place?

Here’s my 3-step money flow method – that only takes 5 minutes – and brings the kind of peace no fancy handbag ever could.

First, tally what came in over the last week or month (whatever rhythm works for you).

Don’t overthink it—just take stock. Like checking what’s in the fridge before ordering takeout.

Next, if you were a bit short last month & borrowed from your tax account or covered business expenses with your own funds, repay that FIRST.
This step is your nervous system’s new BFF. It puts an end to that awful feeling that you’re always playing catch-up.

And finally—this is the magic part: Take any money that’s left over and give it JUST – ONE – JOB.

  • That might be building a buffer to have your back on low-income months.
  • It might be paying off debt or boosting your wealth creation.
  • Or it might be for investing in business growth.

The key is to pick just ONE.

Cause when you spread money out, it gets diluted – just like when you’re watching TV and scroll Instagram at the same time and end up absorbing neither.

But when you choose ONR priority, you create traction. And build actual momentum.

I know you might be thinking. “But what if I mess it up?”

Gorgeous, the only mistake is not having a plan.

Once you start managing your money with actual intention, everything changes.

Does looking at your bank account make you break out in a cold sweat? Trust me, you’re not alone.

So many entrepreneurs I chat with are literally AVOIDING their finances—not because they’re broke (many are making plenty!)—but because it all feels like opening that closet where you’ve shoved everything during a panic clean before guests arrive. Too scary, too messy, too… much.

“I hear you saying, ‘I’ll totally sort my finances when I’m making more.’ But here’s the thing we both know deep down: more money doesn’t fix money anxiety. In fact, it’s like upgrading to a bigger house without fixing the leaky pipes first. You just end up with the same problems, but now they’re flooding a nicer bathroom.

Here’s the truth: your stress around money doesn’t come from the actual numbers—it comes from playing financial peek-a-boo and NOT KNOWING the numbers!

So let’s take the fear out of it. No spreadsheets that make your eyes glaze over, no complicated systems that require a finance degree, and definitely no need to suddenly become a math nerd (though I won’t judge if that’s your jam).

Most of us were handed bank accounts, credit cards, and mortgages without an instruction manual. It’s like being given the keys to a Ferrari without driving lessons. Of course you’re white-knuckling it! (And honestly, some people still drive like that AFTER lessons… we’ve all seen them on the road, right? 🙄)

Here’s the magical part: once you actually know where your money is going—with a simple system guiding it—you’ll feel calmer than after your first G&T on a Friday night.

Start by smoooooooothing your cashflow.

This means giving every dollar a specific job. Like assigning chores to teenagers—but with MUCH better results.

Irregular income doesn’t have to mean constant financial whiplash. You just need a system that has your back when your income decides to play roller coaster.

Set up some buckets. I’m talking about dividing your money into different categories with crystal-clear purposes. Your Personal Bills bucket, your Business Operating bucket, your “I Deserve Nice Sh*t” bucket (aka Personal Discretionary Spending), and my personal fave—your WEALTH bucket.

Each bucket can have multiple accounts in it to keep things tidy. Kind of like how I organize my streaming services by mood. (Yes, I have a “When I Need a Good Cry” category. Don’t judge.)

Here’s the fun bit: name your accounts something meaningful that makes you smile. “Tax Man Schmacksman” still makes me giggle every time I do a transfer—and that’s the point. You’ll know exactly what your money is for just by glancing at your banking app.

Once you do this, something amazing happens.

Your nervous system chills the f*ck out. You stop second-guessing every purchase like you’re on trial. You stop making financial decisions from that panicky place where nothing feels right. And suddenly, opportunities feel easier to say yes to, because you actually trust yourself to handle them.

And guess what? You don’t need to obsessively check your accounts every day either. You know what’s what. That means you can spend guilt-free, knowing the essentials are already taken care of—sitting in a totally separate bucket, like how we used to separate our darks and lights before we all collectively gave up and just started throwing everything in together. (Just me? I doubt it…)
